Fabarm USA launched a new semi-automatic hunting shotgun at the 2015 SHOT Show – the show floor models showed up literally days before the start of the show – and we were fortunate enough to be among the first to get a look.
The new smoothbore, called the L4S, shares the same gas-operating systems as Fabarm’s popular XLR Velocity Target shotgun, but the similarities pretty much end there.
The L4S is strictly a hunting shotgun, and with an overall weight of just over 7 lbs. it will still feel light in your hands after a full day in the field.
The mid-level model, the Hunter Grey, got the majority of our attention during a visit to the company’s booth. It features a very pleasing wood (upgrade, according to Fabarm), a hard anodized grey finish and engraving on both sides of the receiver.
A unique feature of this gun is the slender forearm, which has a very pleasant feel in the hand. In addition, a special checkering pattern on the forearm improves grip in a variety of weather conditions.
The promise of a high degree of reliability with a variety of game loads alongside a very soft recoil means the new Fabarm L4S should win over even the most finicky of upland hunters.
MSRP ranges from $1,100 up to $1,900, with the Hunter Grey sitting at around $1,700. Look for more information in the months ahead at www.fabarmusa.com.
