DIY Video: Expert Tips for Mounting a Turkey Tail

Jeff Holmin of North Star Taxidermy in Nicollet, Minnesota, got started in taxidermy at the age of 15 because of his love of animals and the outdoors. After working full-time for 15 years in a taxidermy studio after graduating high school in 1984, he and his wife opened North Star Taxidermy in 1999.

Through the years, Holmin has competed in many competitions, winning first place in both state and world taxidermy championships. “While we are proud to have those accomplishments,” he said, “our most satisfying and rewarding work is to have you as a happy customer.”

As you can expect, Holmin has mounted more turkey tails than just about anyone on the planet. Along the way, he’s learned a few tricks for making the process go as smoothly as possible. If you want to see his secrets, click here to watch an instructional Facebook video. (Be sure to turn up the volume for best viewing.)
