INFORCE Lights: Illuminating Defense-Light Options

In my own home, I have a defense plan incorporating multiple firearms, from handguns to a compact PCC9 9mm semi-automatic rifle. My pistols and rifle include reflex sights and INFORCE lights for rapid target acquisition and blinding illumination. I could disorient, too, with strobe functions in those lights; however, blinding white light in a low- or no-light environment also is quite disorienting. So, for simplicity’s sake, I keep lights on standard momentary illumination modes. My personal preparedness aside, everybody’s needs are different: Some are alone, some have families, some live in large homes, some live in studio apartments, some can afford multiple firearms and some can only afford one. The only common denominator is the knowledge that defense is important.
Understanding such importance should lead citizens to act – strategize, plan, educate, train and, of course, outfit accordingly. The obvious hope is that people never need to employ such plans and tools, but preparedness is important. That said, hopefully a vital component of equipment considerations, especially considering the higher risks associated with low-light events, includes rifle- and/or handgun-mountable light systems like those offered by INFORCE Lights. Consider these options.
Rifle-Mounted Lights
Whether your primary home defense tool is a more traditional AR-15 platform rifle, a semi-auto pistol-cartridge rifle like a PCC9, an AR-style pistol or something else, users have INFORCE Light options like the WML or WMLx, and an additional option within the two product families for white light only or the ability to toggle between white and infrared illumination. Rifle lights are Picatinny-compatible with ergonomically angled press-switches. Additional features include a safety lever, lock-out mode and three modes: momentary, constant and strobe.
Rifle lights consist of Generation 3 WML and WMLx systems, the latter being a longer-body design that packs more blinding punch. Perfect for compact defense rifle systems, the WML features 400 to 450 lumens and 10,000 candelas for a throw up to 656 feet. The white/infrared model also includes 1.6 mW IR LED light. The larger INFORCE WMLx Gen 3 white-only light system boasts 900 lumens, 25,000 candelas and 1036 feet of illumination, while the white/IR model comes in at 900 lumens, 10,00 candelas, 656 feet of reach and 160mW infrared LED. WMLx may be better suited for full-size rifle systems, but the choices between WML and WMLx, white or white/IR are quite subjective — the latter also determined by potential use of generational or digital night-vision in conjunction with the INFORCE light of choice.
Handgun-Mounted Lights
INFORCE’s handgun light models are WILD1 and WILD2. WILD1 lights are the smaller of the two devices and ideal for compact and sub-compact handguns. WILD2 is a great choice to outfit a full-size handgun. WILD1 and WILD2 handgun lights are only available with white illumination (no IR); however, still boast blinding, disorienting white light. The WILD1 includes 500 lumens and 5,000 candelas, casting illumination out to 462 feet. The WILD2 is much beefier, offering 1,000 lumens and 25,000 candelas, with an extended throw to more than 1,000 feet! All WILD1 and WILD2 lights are Picatinny-rail mountable and feature ambidextrous paddle controls.
