For the past four years, the American Suppressor Association (ASA) has held its annual media day shoot the day prior to the NRA Annual Meetings. This year’s event was held just south of Atlanta at the Griffin Gun Club. The best part of this event is all firearms are suppressed! You literally get to shoot the latest and greatest silencers from Yankee Hill Machine (YHM), GEMTECH, BLACKHAWK!, Thunder Beast Arms, SilencerCo, Daniel Defense and more. We were also pleasantly surprised to see some brand-new suppressors and accessories being introduced at the shoot. Here’s one using the latest in technology for manufacturing and strength.
Daniel Defense
While Daniel Defense (DD) has offered integrally suppressed firearms for a few years now, this year they are true suppressor manufacturers, too. Introducing the DD WAVE, a 3-D-printed suppressor. That’s right, this silencer is manufactured with a 3-D printer. This allows DD to print it as a solid design, eliminating welded sections on the suppressor, which are typically the weakest points.
The WAVE is constructed of stainless steel, Iconel and titanium, then salt bath nitride and Cerakote coated. The suppressor weighs 17.2 ounces, is 7.6 inches long and 1½ inches in diameter. The suppressor is suitable for calibers 7.62mm and smaller diameter. The WAVE will MSRP for $1,157 with the quick-detach mount and $985 for direct-thread mount.
