MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Department of Natural Resources is looking for public input on the future of a northern Wisconsin wildlife area.
The DNR began working on revisions to the Powell Marsh Wildlife Area's master plan in August. The agency has scheduled a listening session to gather the public's thoughts on the area's uses for Oct. 29 at the Manitowish Waters town hall.
The 4,800-acre wildlife area lies in Vilas County. It's mostly an open peatland with several small flowages and small lakes. It serves as a key habitat for waterfowl, shore birds and grassland birds and is a popular destination for hunters, trappers and bird watchers.
