Outstanding Fishing Video: Shoreline Muskies

You don’t need a fancy boat and thousands of dollars in high-tech electronics to catch fish, even muskies. And these young anglers from Wisconsin prove it.

Outstanding Fishing Video: Shoreline Muskies

Caleb Sorenson (Instagram @wisconsinswanson) and his buddies love to fish, and as you’ll see in the 28-minute video below, the young anglers from the Shoreline Anglers YouTube channel will target any species available, including muskies — known as “the fish of 10,000 casts.”

In describing the video from 2023, Caleb wrote: “Last summer, during the haziness we encountered due to wildfires up north, we absolutely shmacked da muskies. My mom, after witnessing many muskies caught, came to the conclusion she wanted to capture one herself. After picking up a full-sized musky rod for the very first time, she hooked a beat up, post-spawn, river resider — on her second cast! Fish were caught on bucktails, topwaters, big ChatterBaits, and the Miuras Mouse. Thank ya for your time and enjoy the video!”

Not only was I impressed by these young anglers’ passion for the outdoors, but I admire their focus on proper fishing handling care. They understand it’s critical to release a fish unharmed, and keep it in the water as much as possible, especially in hot weather. And if that means you don’t get an exact measurement and a perfect picture . . . well, that’s just fine.

I look forward to watching many more videos from Shoreline Anglers. These young anglers are a breath of fresh air for a sport that so often focuses on the “need” for the crazy-expensive electronics, fancy boats and the rest.
