ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ The St. Paul City Council is set to vote on a resolution this week that would set plans for a new outdoor archery range in motion.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports city offiicals want to convert land at Pig's Eye Park into an outdoor range. The resolution directs the city's parks department to apply for up to $10,000 in grants from the state Department of Natural Resources. If the DNR complies, the city would pitch in $5,000 from a matching fund.

City Council President Kathy Lantry is sponsoring the resolution. She says a growing number of residents have inquired about where they can practice archery.

The council is expected to vote on the resolution on Wednesday.
