Fun Friday Video: Alberta Black Bear Climbs Youth Hunter’s Ladder Stand

You’ve seen videos of a black bear climbing a tree, but have you ever watched one get this close?
Fun Friday Video: Alberta Black Bear Climbs Youth Hunter’s Ladder Stand

According to the post on Smith Game Calls Facebook page, Mark White was filming while a black bear cub decided to check out 14-year-old Davin’s ladder stand. As you’ll see below, this bruin got a little too close for comfort, although you’d never know it from the incredibly calm demeaner of the hunter.

The kid must have ice in his veins! Good luck to any shooter bear that appears in front of Davin, because it appears this youth hunter isn’t easily shaken. Black bear fever? Yes, it’s real, but Davin certainly doesn’t suffer from it.

Watch and enjoy! (Be sure to turn up the volume on the Facebook video to hear the bear's claws digging into the tree.)

P.S. If you’re curious why the cub climbed this tree, Mark White explains below in his Facebook post. Kudos to Mark for playing it smart and understanding the sow/cub/boar situation unfolding right beneath him.
