The first few words of this post will likely irritate our audience, but telling the truth is the right thing to do.

Ricky Gervais is funny. True, not everyone likes British humor, but Ricky Gervais is seriously funny in a lot of ways. He’s a comedic talent who has entertained millions of people around the world, and that isn’t debatable. It’s fact.

OK, now that that’s in the open. Why can’t Ricky Gervais show hunters the same respect? There’s no need for his recent mean-spirited tweets, which have caused death threats to hunter Rebecca Francis and her family.

Gervais set Twitter ablaze with a post showing the trophy pose from a successful giraffe hunt.

Francis told The Huffington Post "Ricky Gervais used his power and influence to set off a firestorm against women in the hunting industry," Francis told The Huffington Post.

Francis said everyone's free to think what they want about hunting. But, in her words, "the issue has gone from a discussion about the legal act of hunting to the illegal and immoral acts of death threats against me and my family."

Honestly, Gervais’ feelings on hunting aren’t surprising. After all, he was PETA’s person of the year in 2013.

However, for Rebecca Francis, like Jen “The Archer” Cordaro, Kendall Jones, and Miss Kansas Theresa Vail, the vitriol stirred up in the social space from tweets of this nature has real consequences.
