PINETOP, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Game and Fish Department is investigating the illegal killing of a mule deer doe.

Officials say the mule deer was found off of Old Rim Road on the west end of Forest Lakes last week.

They say the deer was killed with archery equipment.

At the time of the poaching, Game and Fish officials say there was an archery antlered mule deer hunt underway.

The meat was left to waste.

Officials say it wasn’t the action of a hunter, but the act of a criminal.
