New Hampshire officials are offering would-be hunters the chance to try out the sport without having to pass a hunter safety program.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire officials are offering would-be hunters the chance to try out the sport without having to pass a hunter safety program.
Under a new law that takes effect Sunday, Fish and Game officials will offer apprentice hunting license to those 18 years of age and older. The license permits a novice hunter to accompany a licensed hunter throughout the season. The licensed hunter must keep the apprentice hunter within sight and earshot at all times.
A person can purchase an apprentice hunting license only once in a lifetime. It is valid from date of purchase through the rest of the calendar year.
New Hampshire joins about 30 states that have initiated apprentice hunter programs in the past five years.
The apprentice hunting licenses are available to residents and non-residents.
