The winner of Nebraska's new super tag hunting lottery has been chosen.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The winner of Nebraska's new super tag hunting lottery has been chosen.
Leo Benes of Firth, Neb., won the four-species hunting permit Thursday morning.
Benes, who is a Battalion Chief for Lincoln Fire and Rescue says he's excited about winning. Benes says he signed up for the lottery by accident when he was trying to apply for a normal deer permit.
Now he'll be allowed to hunt one Elk, one Deer, one Antelope and two Turkeys in the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says 1,714 people entered the lottery, so the program raised $42,850 for the commission. Each entry cost $25.
