Beaver Creates Traffic Jam In Wisconsin

The Village of Caledonia Police Department received an interesting call on Dec. 17.

The department, located in a Milwaukee suburb, was called for a traffic jam that was caused by a beaver wandering in the middle of a local road, The Journal Times reported.

“It was the last thing I’d thought I’d see,” Officer Andrew Gelden said. “But there it was; a beaver in the roadway.”

Gelden was dispatched in the late afternoon when the department received a call about the beaver “hanging out.” Gelden, a self-proclaimed animal person, scooped up the beaver, put it in the back of his squad car and quickly relocated the critter to a new home.

“I know they like water, and so I moved it over by a pond,” he said.

The relocation took five minutes, Gelden said. The beaver did not appear to be injured and was calm throughout the process.
