Fisherman Fights Off Coyote In Spotswood, NJ

SPOTSWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Officials are warning Spotswood residents to be on the lookout for a coyote after a teenage fisherman said he fought off the animal.

Anthony Bonsante of South River says he was fishing in a stream of DeVoe Lake on Sunday night when he heard a noise.

The 17-year-old tells the Home News Tribune he saw “two big yellow eyes'' in the woods and the animal started to growl.

Bonsante says he grabbed a big stick and hit the animal as it lunged for his neck.

State wildlife officials shot and killed two aggressive coyotes in Bergen County in April.
