SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia trappers are nearing the end of the season for fisher, and the clock is ticking on a number of other trapping seasons for fur-bearing animals.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says Tuesday is the season closer for fisher. The hunting and trapping seasons for red and gray fox, bobcat and raccoon all end by Feb. 29.

That same date applies for the trapping season for coyote, otter, mink and muskrat.

For beaver, the season runs until March 31.

All beaver, bobcat, otter and fisher pelts must be checked at an official game station within 30 days of the close of each species' season.
