The Idaho Fish and Game Commission has approved a spring chinook fishing season based on fish counts at Bonneville Dam.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Fish and Game Commission has approved a spring chinook fishing season based on fish counts at Bonneville Dam.
Starting April 23, the season will open on the Lochsa River, Salmon and Little Salmon rivers, the Clearwater River and its North, South and Middle forks, and the Snake River in Hells Canyon.
Joe DuPont of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game tells the Lewiston Tribune that angling for the ocean-going fish usually starts heating up about May 10.
Anglers are only allowed to keep hatchery fish, which are missing the adipose fin.
