Fenix TK Series

Hunters don’t always put a lot of thought into flashlights, but maybe we should. When the moment of truth arrives, a buck gets smacked at dusk and you’re in for a pitch-black blood-trailing job, do you really want to have to rely on that cheap pocket light with the almost-dead batteries?

Fenix’s TK series is the answer. The TK15 LED flashlight boasts almost a two-hour runtime on maximum brightness — a super-bright 337 lumens with a beam distance of 215 meters. There are three other brightness settings, the lowest being a barely-there 5 lumens (142 hours runtime) perfect for walking into your stand in the morning without lighting up the woods. The other levels are 47 lumens and 143, and if you’re planning to use this light in self-defense situations, a strobe feature at the full 337 lumens.

Hunters will appreciate the tough, rugged design — anti-abrasive slip-resistant finish, anti-roll body shape and toughened ultra-clear glass lens. It’s impact-resistant, waterproof and submersible up to 2 meters, not that I would recommend dropping it in a lake or anything.

You say 337 lumens isn’t enough? Then you need the TK35, a souped-up model that is quite possibly the most impressive beast of a flashlight I’ve ever handled. It runs on frost-resistant CR123A lithium batteries or high-capacity 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries and boasts a nearly blinding 820 lumens on max power — a beam distance of 333 meters. It’s got three lower light modes — 12, 109 and 346 lumens — as well as a strobe mode and SOS mode. At 6.5 inches long and weighing 9 ounces without batteries, it will take up some room in your pack (or on your belt in the included sheath). But for serious nighttime adventures, search-and-rescue operations, caving, and other after-dark explorations, you’re not going to beat the brightness and durability of this baby.
