BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's deer archery season opens at noon on Friday.

The state Game and Fish Department is reminding bowhunters to follow regulations when using tree stands in public hunting areas.

That includes displaying the owner's name, address and telephone number on tree stands left unattended on Game and Fish wildlife management areas.

Game and Fish says each year it receives inquiries from bowhunters regarding tree stands that are stolen, moved or tampered with. The agency says thefts of tree stands should be reported to local sheriffs officials.

The archery season is open through next Jan. 2.
