The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has launched a website to answer questions involving white-tailed deer.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Ever wonder what to do if you come across an injured or orphaned deer?
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has launched a website with the answer to that and other questions involving white-tailed deer.
The website is called "Living with White-tailed Deer in Illinois.''
The goal is to inform people about how state officials manage deer populations and other tips.
Some of the topics include the history of deer management in Illinois and what to do with accidents involving deer.
In the case of an orphaned or injured deer, officials say don't approach the animal because deer can inflict injury or carry diseases that are transmittable to humans.
Instead, officials suggest calling local animal control officials.
