BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Some Indiana hunters are complaining about a proposed shortening of the deer hunting season in November from 16 to nine days.

That step is among the changes being considered by the Department of Natural Resources that could be adopted next year.

State wildlife officials have proposed adding two new deer hunting periods for antlerless deer. DNR spokesman Phil Bloom says those added antlerless deer hunts will balance out the number of female and male deer killed.

Hunter Daniel Terry of Mitchell says the shorten November season would mean only one weekend for hunting and increase the risk of bad weather costing hunting dates.
