RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Mountain lion hunters in South Dakota are more than two-thirds of the way to this year's harvest limit, with two months still to go in the season.
KEVN-TV reports 29 lions have been bagged so far — 11 males and 18 females. The latest was a female killed in Meade County over the weekend.
The season ends March 31, or earlier if a total of 45 lions or 30 female lions are killed.
No lions have been taken yet in Custer State Park, where cougar hunting is being allowed for the first time. There's a limit of five lions set in the park.
