Most companies claim cutting-edge technology and innovative design, but few can back up those claims as impressively as BowTech. To recently developed innovations such as BowTech’s OverDrive Binary Cam, Hardcore Limbs, and torque-reducing FLX-Guard, BowTech this year introduces CPX (Center Pivot Extreme) on its flagship Invasion CPX bow. CPX is a slick (literally) deflexed riser design with low-friction components that contribute to the Invasion CPX’s top speed of 343 fps. BowTech calls this bow “scary accurate, deadly quiet, and blazing fast,” and we can’t argue the point. As BowTech’s new flagship, the Invasion CPX employs every one of BowTech’s newest and best design features including, in addition to the already mentioned technologies, BowTech’s Carbon Rod String Stop and Octane Factory strings. The past-parallel limb design is if anything even further past parallel than previous BowTech designs. The 2-piece wood grip enhances the bow’s comfort and appearance. The 7-inch brace is surprisingly large for a bow reaching these speeds. The Invasion CPX is a compact 31 1/32 inches and weight is 3.9 pounds. It’s available in a wide array of camo and target finishes, and comes with a suggested retail price of $949.
Also getting a lot of attention for BowTech this year is the Assassin. Designed specifically to reach the many bowhunters whose dreams of a cutting-edge, high-end bow have been thwarted by a struggling economy, the Assassin boasts a number of BowTech’s recent innovations at a suggested retail price of under $650. At the heart of the Assassin is BowTech’s Binary Cam with Rotating Modules for quick, easy, and precise draw length adjustments. The Assassin also boasts the Carbon Rod String Stop and Octane Factory Strings. One of BowTech’s successful RAK bows (Ready Aim Kill), the Assassin comes standard with high-end accessories including an alloy peep, TruGlo Apex Sight, Comfort Wrist Sling, BCY String Loop, 5-arrow Camo Ultra Lite Quiver, Hostage XL Arrow Rest, 4-inch Light Stabilizer, and Dura-Flx String Dampening Components, all factory-installed and tested. At 333 fps despite a friendly 7-inch brace height, the Assassin is both fast and pleasant to shoot. The compact 30 5/8-inch axle-to-axle length makes it easy to carry, as does the weight (minus accessories) of 3.8 pounds. Draw lengths run 26 to 30 inches, and peak draw weights are 50, 60, and 70 pounds. It’s available in Mossy Oak Treestand or Black Ops.
For the same $650 price tag BowTech this year introduces the Heartbreaker, aimed at the fastest-growing segment of the bowhunting population: women. At 305 fps it’s the fastest bow we’re aware of that is clearly marketed for women. The Heartbreaker is light (3.7 pounds minus accessories), has a compact but not super-short length of 30 1/4 inches, and offers draw lengths running from 22.5 to 27 inches. The 7-inch brace height makes it user-friendly, and it boasts the same BowTech technology as the Assassin. The Heartbreaker, too, is an RAK bow and is available in Black Ops, Mossy Oak Treestand, and several target finishes. (The RAK package is not available in target colors.) BowTech is betting women bowhunters won’t miss the usual pink option.
Rounding out this year’s line-up is the Specialist. As you might expect from a dedicated target bow, the Specialist is relatively longer at 37 1/2 inches axle-to-axle, and weighs in at a slightly heavier 4.1 pounds. It’s built around a forged riser and offers a wide range of BowTech’s latest technology, including Hardcore Limbs, FLX-Guard, and Overdrive Binary Cams. Top speed is respectable 330 fps despite the very generous 7 1/2-inch brace height. Letoff ranges from 65 to 80 percent. Available in four target colors, suggested retail price for this bow is $999. www.bowtecharchery.com
