Southaven aldermen have refused to stop local residents from feeding ducks and geese.
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) Southaven aldermen have refused to stop local residents from feeding ducks and geese.
The board of aldermen this week voted 5-2 against a proposed ordinance to ban the feeding of ducks and geese in the city.
The Commercial Appeals reports that the ordinance was proposed by a local resident who wanted to ban the feeding of ducks in the Greenbriar neighborhood.
Alderman George Payne, who represents the Greenbriar area, said it was not fair to have a ban in one area of the city. He proposed the citywide ban, which was voted down.
Payne says the issue was one of health related to the waterfowl and their droppings.
