WHEELING, Ill. (AP) Authorities in suburban Chicago say an airplane apparently struck a deer while taking off from an airport in Wheeling, forcing an emergency landing.

Officials say there were no injuries to the six people aboard the small airplane during the Sunday incident at Chicago Executive Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was a twin-engine Piper Seneca aircraft.

Wheeling Fire Battalion Chief Dave Palmeri says the aircraft did not have its landing gear on its left side. Palmeri says the pilot reported landing gear problems after striking a deer. The chief says the plane landed on its wheels and left wing.

The incident is under investigation.
