Started in 1992 from the design of a single tree step, Ameristep experienced strong growth from the get-go. Four short years after launching the business, this family owned and operated brand became the premier producer of tree steps for the hunting industry. Forever etched in tree step lore, Ameristep continues to spread its branches.
“Our tree steps have always been popular and continue to be today,” said Synergy marketing director Katie Wilberding. “However, Ameristep is always moving forward and about six years after that first tree step, the company decided to jump headfirst into the ground blind world. Within a year of introduction, its popular ground blind category was created. In that same year, 1998, the company launched its first ‘one size fits all’ safety harness. Safety has always been a driving factor at Ameristep, and the company really prides itself on that.”
And while Ameristep’s ground blinds and safety harness quickly proved popular with the outdoor crowd, the company refused to rest.
“In 2003, Ameristep exploded into a new category, treestands,” Wilberding noted. Today, Ameristep continues to lead the hunting industry in many categories. The company is always striving to serve and satisfy its customers—treating them like part of the Ameristep family. And Ameristep puts great focus into introducing new, innovative products every year.”
Two of those new, innovative products are the Lightspeed Razor Blind ($150) with new Lightspeed patented technology, and the Non-Typical Outfitter SL Hang On ($230). Lightweight and efficient, the Lightspeed takes only 8 seconds to set up—ideal for those bowhunting situations when time is of the essence. A simple pull on the side-draw hub and the blind is open. Tipping the scales at a mere 8 pounds, this blind is the type of specialized gear required by hunters who prefer to get off the beaten paths. The Lightspeed comes cloaked in Realtree’s new Xtra camouflage pattern, and comes with five mesh/elastic toggle windows.
Moving from the ground to the tree, the Non-Typical Outfitter SL features a new, wider platform and a 3-inch-thick seat to ensure comfort. Boosting security is the Super Cam leverage lock system. The Outfitter also features rubber bumpers on the platform and under the seat to eliminate any noisy metal-to-metal contact. Hunters will also appreciate the Non-Typical Hanging Assist System, which makes hanging the stand safer and quicker than ever.
In addition to Ameristep’s smoking hot 2013 line, a pair of 2012 products continue to spark interest with consumers.
“The Carnivore Blind continues to be very popular,” Wildberding continued. “It has some great features like poly-cotton fabric, which really reduces noise and shine. Plus, the Carnivore’s Dual Window System promises 180-degree shooting capability. The windows are easy to use and very quiet, and the ground skirt helps keep light out and scent in. Consumers are still crazy about our Non-Typical Rapid Rails as well. This is a patented design that features four different length individual sections that conveniently nestle together for compact transport. Hunters can get into their stands safely and quickly thanks to the enclosed, 4-steps-to-1-strap design.”
Moving forward, Ameristep’s legacy will no doubt continue to grow. Now under the umbrella of the Synergy family, which represents a number of popular outdoor brands, Ameristep has nowhere to go but up.
