At 8 a.m. on November 15, 2013 I set up my FoxPro FX3 after walking in about a quarter mile from where I parked. It was around 20 degrees and I was just outside of Steamboat Springs, Colo. I started with a coyote locator call, which I've had good luck with in getting 'yotes to answer, but this time nothing. I then switched to a rodent distress and within a minute this nice male came trotting in.
He got to within a few yards of the call, which was about 10 yards off to my left, and realized something was not right. He took off running straight away from me. I was shooting a Savage Predator Model 10 in .223 Rem., topped with a Leupold Vari-X lll 6.5X20. With one shot I dropped him at 100 yards. Wow ... it's exciting!
