New Bowhunting Products, Part 4

Schaffer Archery

Schaffer Opposition Arrow RestIn the market for a new arrow rest? A recent poll of the Archery Business magazine Dealer Advisory Board—made up of some of the nation’s most-successful archery pro shop owners—found the new and unique Opposition Rest from Schaffer Performance Archery was one of the ATA Trade Show’s most-outstanding new products. The ultra-durable, innovative “full capture” design shown off here by creator John Schaffer must be seen in action to be truly appreciated; a great demonstration video is currently posted on the company’s website where you’ll also find some cutting-edge sights and other accessories.

Hoyt

Hoyt MaxxisSpeaking of ground-breaking new products, the new Hoyt Maxxis (left, available in 31- and 35-inch models), and Carbon Matrix bows shown off here by Hoyt’s Jeremy Eldredge were easily two of the Show’s real gems. The sweet-shooting Maxxis is being billed as an “improved” AlphaMax, Hoyt’s best-selling bow ever (I shot it and would agree), while the 35-inch Carbon Matrix is just plain mold-breaking in most every way, starting with its unique Hollow Carbon Tube riser that literally soaks up and virtually eliminates all bow vibration at the shot. (This bow is crazy-light in the hand and performed as promised). To boot, the ultralight riser is tough as nails; another “must-see” video clip at the Show featured a full-size truck running over the Carbon Matrix Riser—with bow no worse for wear.

Rinehart Targets

Rinehart TargetsWe here at Bowhunting World have been singing the praises of Rinehart Targets for years, especially this company’s very unique solid self-healing foam that allows both its 3-D and “standard” targets to have two unique abilities: Withstand an amazing number of shots using both broadheads and fieldpoints, and provide incredibly easy-pulling performance. You’ll find both of those qualities in the new RhinoBlock target that measures 16x16x13 inches and features six sides—a combination of aiming dots and 3-D sculpted deer vital zones.

Robinson Outdoors | Dream Season

Robinson Dream SeasonExtreme cold-weather boots have historically featured some fairly extreme weights as well. Clothing and boot specialist ScentBlocker has changed that trend with the new Dream Season Wooly Mammoth Pac Boot shown off here by designer Eric Bantley. The 14-inch boot offers ground-breaking scent-control (an S3 antimicrobial lining combined with a carbon fabric filter), as well as a removable 13mm wool felt liner and cork footbed, for maximum warmth in a truly ultralight package.
