From The Readers: A coyote triple

Every fall, my buddy Dave (Muss) Mussman, myself, and sometimes my son Branden Gruetzemacher head out to do a little doggin‘.

This particular day started out like all the others—cold and early. We got to the first set and Muss called in a dog from about 400 yards out. We all watched as it came in to about 75 yards and then my son took it. One in the bag! The next set turned out just a bit better as you can see in the picture.

We parked the truck and started to the field to get set up, when all of the sudden we spotted two dogs. We quietly dropped to the ground and belly crawled to the nearest cover. Muss and I were about to take them (we told my son he already got his) when out of the corner of the field number three showed up! All three of us got ready to shoot on the count of three, then the coyote I was aiming at pounced on breakfast (notice the mouse in the mouth of the center coyote in the picture). When he came up we counted down and all of us squeezed our triggers—the rest is history.
