While bows keep getting smoother and faster, at some point there is no getting around a trade-off: The very fastest bows are less smooth, the smoothest-shooting bows are not quite as fast. Elite has the Answer: two modules, one standard, smoother-shooting mod with a quite respectable speed of 330 fps, or an optional speed mod that is a little less smooth but boosts speed by about 10 fps. (When we shot the bow with the speed module, we noticed it’s slightly stiffer at the beginning of the draw cycle, but still very smooth and otherwise identical.) Elite has built a reputation in recent years for smooth-drawing bows with deep valleys and high letoff, and though the entire Elite line-up has been tweaked for 2012, the Answer is an entirely new bow, most notable (apart from the module options) for its re-engineered twin-track design. An adjustable cable-guard rod and string suppressor is new as well. At 331⁄2 inches axle-to-axle, the Answer is moderately compact with a full 7 inches of brace height, 80 percent letoff, and a weight of 4.1 pounds. Available draw lengths start at 27 inches and run to 30 inches, with draw weights of 50, 60, 70, and 80 pounds. Available in RH and LH models and finishes including Realtree AP, Max 1 and AP Snow as well as Ninja Black and several vibrant target colors. The suggested retail price is $870.
