VIDEO: Man Catches Record 805-Pound Mako Shark

Florida Mako Shark Record

A Florida fisherman caught an 11-foot mako shark that broke records off the Florida Panhandle.

From the New York Daily News:

"It was really exciting to say the least," Polk said. "I fought the fish for a little more than an hour."

With the battle over, the feast was on, but the father of three said killing the shark is always the last resort.

"We tried to revive the fish and send him back out, but he was too worn out to swim," the 29-year-old Joey Polk said. "That's why we decided to keep him. We don't do it for the money, for the publicity, just to catch the fish."

UPDATE: Record won't count. Why? He ate it, according to the Broward Palm Beach New Times.
