The National Bowhunter Education Foundation has announced the launch of ProjectSTAND.net and the accompanying tree stand safety survey. The newly designed website is fully dedicated to reducing the number of tree stand accidents and deaths and to encourage hunters to hunt smart and hunt safe.
ProjectSTAND.net provides hunters and instructors with the tools necessary to hunt safely from a tree stand and at the same time give feedback on their hunting experiences by taking the short survey. The survey is made possible as a result of a Pope & Young Conservation Grant awarded to the NBEF for furthering their efforts regarding tree stand safety.
Visitors of Project STAND can also purchase Project STAND merchandise such as Hunt Smart/Hunt Safe t-shirts, decals, cabin signage, luggage tags and the Safe Tree Stand Hunting Strategies DVD. Financial donations can also be made online and will be used to the further educate the hunting community on tree stand safety. Hunter testimonials on the site give users a real-life look at how lives can be forever changed when not wearing a harness properly, while the tree stand safety videos illustrate the correct climbing styles and aids.
“With Project STAND’s fresh and engaging new website, we want to encourage hunters to make tree stand safety a priority”, said Marilyn Bentz, executive director of the NBEF. “We want to see a drastic reduction in the number of tree stand incidents. It is our goal to motivate each and every hunter to wear a harness, devise a safety plan and stay up-to-date on the latest tree stand technology.”
Project STAND is being led by the National Bowhunter Education Foundation with support from the hunting industry, state, and federal wildlife agencies, medical organizations and first responders.
